Welcome to inventory! These pages will provide documentation on how and why our barcodes work the way they work and how our color coding is organized. On this main page will be the basics on barcodes and colors. In the pages below, there will be detailed descriptions on how the barcodes were made and every little detail about this system [I hope].
Almost everything in our inventory will be color coded. This is to facilitate breakdown at the end of each retreat or event we use our gear for, especially since we have volunteers help us out and it helps everyone memorize where things belong. Colors will be used for 2 reasons only: Cable lengths and Location. Cable lengths are shown with a colored flag or tape on either side of the cable, perhaps both. There should only be ONE piece of tape on a cable. All measurements are rounded down. Location is demonstrated by a colored ziptie for cables only or colored duct tape on items, boxes, bags, etc. Cables will have one ziptie near the cable connector; items will most likely have duct tape on the bottom(can be on the sides) to show its location. Each location will be a road case or a box that will have the same color duct tape on all sides (except the bottom). Colors will all match. Something to note, once we start getting bigger, some storage containers will have the same color. At that point we will distinguish where its a case, totes, or box. Hopefully, we can upgrade to slightly bigger road cases and simply better movement solutions to the point where it would be easier to distinguish the organizational structure.
The following colors ONLY correspond to tape on cables, NOT on items and everything else. Below is a table of colors and their corresponding lengths.

Each department section will have the departments code and abbreviation plus a description of the categories and their info that fit in each department. It is important to note that some categories might be found multiple times in various departments.
